What do you think about the Chicco Cortina stroller?

I’m looking at travel systems for my baby due in Oct. I really liked the Chicco Cortina but when i brought my 18 month old neice to Babies R Us to try it out, i am hesitant because of the stroller. If doesn’t sit upright? The lady who worked there didn’t seem to know the answer, but it kept stopping in this semi reclined postion and when my neice sat in it she was mad because she wanted to see better than she was able to. It also foled up funny, really long! When i use my neices Graco Quattro your, it seems like it’s a bigger stroller but folds up smaller. I really loved the car seat. And on the up side, the stroller had a very smooth ride and i loved the adjustable handle and removalbe insert to the child tray. Does anyone have experiece with this travel system or stroller? What are the pros and cons?

I have this stroller. I loved it when using it with the carseat.

First, let me address the sitting up straight. You’ll find this is true with lots of strollers. I’m not sure why. But it isn’t a problem for my son. He is just over a year old now, and has been sitting up straight in it for several months. He just pulls himself up by the tray and stays there. He doesn’t need the back support for this. This stroller will lay back 100%, which is rare. This is excellent for newborns who like to sleep a lot, anywhere you are.

I have a compact car, and I fit the Cortina in my trunk (folded) without a problem. I have friends with the Quattro, and it really doesn’t seem much different to me.

I love the adjustable handle, as I’m average height, but my husband is freakishly tall. So we can both use it comfortably.

I wish that the basket were easier to access with the back all the way down. With the carseat in, the back must be down. I got around this by hanging my diaper bag on a hook from the handle. Now that I use the stroller without the carseat, and in an upright position, I can get to the basket without a problem.

My son loves it. He is very comfy in it. The footrest comes up, which is great for newborns.

My favorite thing is that the sun shade comes down. You can move it all the way down to the food tray, which is awesome when walking early or late in the day.

While it is great for most duties, it is not excellent for serious walking. I had to get a jogger for my neighborhood strolls. But my streets are not smoothly paved. It worked okay for several months, but developed a cranky wheel squeak.
